Nut butters...cut your sugar cravings (and two recipes!)
/Post by Jo @ Including Cake
Hello! It's been a few weeks since I've posted a recipe...but don't worry I hadn't gone anywhere, I've been busy in the background putting together the new ebook all about 'nut pastes' (it's going to be amazing!).
I have been on a totally sugar free diet these last few weeks- no refined sugar, fruit or even sweet veg. One thing that has got me through when cravings strike is.... nut butter! I think that's become my new addiction. Particularly cashew paste, it's so good as cashews have a naturally subtle sweet taste that hits the spot perfectly.
Of course I couldn't leave the cashew butter alone, and came up with two amazingly simple totally sugar free recipes, that I shared over at Including Cake but wanted to share here with you too! Using the Real Food Source cashew paste makes things even easier than grinding cashews yourself- no super powered food processor required!
You could use coconut sugar or dates as the sweetness if you prefer. Generous helpings of pure vanilla have also been critical (for my sanity) as vanilla and also cinnamon and carob for that matter, give the impression of sweetness in recipes even then there is none. I've been using this generously along with carob in my morning porridge.
