Baobab Goji Immune Boosting Tea
/Post by Julie @realfoodsource and Jo @includingCake
Happy New Year everyone. We hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year and are as excited as we are about the start of 2015!
Like us, if you are still a little foggy headed post Christmas, yet the image of a green smoothie is not quite what you are ready for, how's about this warm tea to break you into the new year gently?
This hot goji tea is packed full of immune boosting ingredients and anti-inflammatories. It packs a punch in the taste departments too- see note below and you can be sure it's doing good things for your body.
We've used out new baobab powder for an added boost and complimentary flavour. Baobab is a great source of antioxidants, vitamin C, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium and dietary fibre, it is also claimed to boost energy levels, help hydration and support the immune and nervous system.
So, let's hit this New Year how we mean to go on... with a really good boosting cuppa!
Recipe: Baobab goji tea
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup goji berries
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 cm turmeric
- 1-2 tsp baobab
- 2 tsp coconut syrup (to taste)
- juice of 1 lemon
Method:
Pour the boiling water over the goji berries in a heat proof bowl, cover and let stand for 10 minutes.
Blend all ingredients together until very smooth and a little frothy. You may like to strain the mixture for a super smooth texture if your prefer. Drink immediately whist still warm.
Note: The first time I made this tea (as photographed) I found it great but very 'powerful' in taste, if you don't like the strength of flavour, try blending with an additional cup of hot water.
