Our story... from a passion to a hobby to a business

We started the RealFoodSource in 2011. A few years before, a family member was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition.  After a couple of years of poor health, we started doing research on how changes to our diet could improve our well-being. This coincided with the birth of our first child. Like all new parents we wanted to give our daughter the best foods possible. We soon found reducing gluten, processed foods and refined carbohydrates, while eating mainly organic real foods, had a very positive impact on both the autoimmune condition and our health in general.  However, we didn’t like the idea of giving up all our treats such as the occasional cake or biscuit. We were disappointed to find most of the available gluten free baked goods were full of the highly refined sweeteners, carbohydrates, gums, and additives that we were trying to avoid. So we started making our own.

We soon found that we could make healthier versions of some of our favourite treats using organic natural ingredients such as chia seeds, coconut oil, cocoa products and almond flour. However, these products are expensive and we found no single online store where we could buy all the organic ingredients we required.  It also became apparent that several online health food stores were not legally operating organic companies as claimed. Since we couldn’t find a trusted source for all the products we needed we thought why not create that online source ourselves and share our passion for Real Foods with others. So we created the RealFoodSource.

We are a fully certified organic company

Organic certification is your guarantee that all due diligence throughout the supply chain has been performed to ensure the organic integrity of both company and product.  The RealFoodSource is certified by the Scottish Organic Producers Authority (SOPA).

What we offer

At the RealFoodSource we offer the best in certified organic real foods at great prices with exceptional customer service. A place where our customers with food intolerances, allergies or specific dietary requirements can find what they need. A website also offering recipes and tips on how to use these foods.

All our products are gluten and soya free, and most are suitable for customers following lower carbohydrate diets such as paleo or primal diets. In a world of growing organics fraud and unregulated food businesses we also want to be a trusted, ethical, online source of genuine organic products.

At the RealFoodSource we focus on providing relevant nutrition facts and encourage our customers to do their own independent research on the health benefits of our products. We concentrate our efforts on sourcing certified organic real foods from around the world to sell at the very best prices in the UK. We will never try to increase sales with tenuous health claims, fancy packaging, or hype.

Why We Don't Use the Term "Superfoods" to Sell our Products

Over the last few years the term “Superfood” has become a buzz word and has been used more and more, every month there is a new Superfoods cookbook available to buy in the shops or a TV programme to watch on another channel. So why have we never jumped on the band wagon and marketed our products as “Superfoods" at the RealFoodSource? Here’s our reasons why.
